New Plan & IgG test

Thanks for all the nice posts.  It really helps me along and helps keep me motivated!!  Keep em coming :)

I emailed my Naturopath Doctor (he's awesome) and filled him in on my status and desire to try this IgG blood test and he's arranged for me to go in tomorrow for it so that's great that I don't have to wait long.

I'm getting a lot of people inquiring what exactly I eat and what I've done over the past year.  It's a lot of posts to read so when I have a few minutes (no 2 yr. old hanging off me!)  I am going to post my year in review - some ups, downs, struggles and victories!

Stay tuned!

  1. Hey Jen! I have a post going up tonight about the IgG allergy tests. You might want to read that before going for yours.

  2. Thanks for sharing your experience on the doc visit. I think u made the right decision not to go for another biologic drug. I still remember my doc told me one time that all the arthritis drugs ( no matter how strong it is ) are not perfect and u would expect flare up once a while. Then I really wondered why I would need the drug if I could find another way to bring my immune system back to the right track. Even with the elimination diet, I still have the flare up as what u have. As long as it does not spread out in too many areas and deform my joints, I just simply ignore the flare up and it will go back to normal once I clean my food diet again.

I have also read some food diet books about how elimination diet can help suppress ( the books always call "heal or cure" but it does not seem to happen as far as I feel ) the arthritis that u and people on your blog might find them interesting to read :

    1) The New Arthritis Cure
    * the book about how coconut oil can help us *
    http://www.coconutresearchcenter.org/

    2) Eat to Beat Arthritis
    3) How to Eat Away Arthritis

    Cheers, Louie

  3. @ Kat: Thanks, I will look forward to your post! I realize that this is not the be all and end all, I just want some help in identifying some of my major sensitivities and I'm hoping this will help. I seem to be consuming something that is a problem but can't quite put my finger on it!

@ Louie- thanks for the great list of books!! I will try and get my deformed hands on them :)

  4. People in Ottawa can get a copy of those books in Ottawa library ( http://biblioottawalibrary.ca/en/main/overview ). No need to spend money unless u really want to keep them. Chapters at Kanata i.e. the spot where we met, has a copy of "How to Eat Away Arthritis" available when I checked a month ago.
    Hope this helps !! Louie.

  5. Another great book is the Self Help Allergy Cookbook. Lots of great recipes in there. Hints too. I found a great cream sauce using cashews which I may have to change to blanched almonds but it was great and gave me a sauce to put over my salmon and veggies. It also talks of rotation diets which is also interesting. I find when I get everything under control I can have a major cheat day every 7-10 days. As in, I eat everything and anything I want for one day and have little repercussions (there still is some but small enough to be worth it for me). So far, I am disappointed with the IgG testing. I sent in my sample 5 weeks ago, found out it wasn't good and to send in another and am still waiting. I was so on track but added so much stuff, got off track, and am feeling overwhelmed again but staying focused! I am also going to check out the listed books plus see what Kat has to say...if I can get a link to the blog? Thanks. I love the fact I can come here and see others doing the same.

  6. Oh, and another reason how I am totally convinced it is food (for me anyways). This past week I had a stomach bug and we'll just say my system got pretty cleaned out. That night I woke up at about 3 or so in the morning and I had to wake up my husband because I could make a closed fist in the middle of the night! I also had a super great day too. Unfortunately we went to a party that night and instead of being super good I went the opposite:(.

  7. Hi Jen!

We are interns at the northern California chapter of the Arthritis Foundation and we read your blog and are impressed by your insights on living with Arthritis. We were hoping you'd be willing to help us with a media-based testimonial project that we are doing this summer in order to increase awareness of Arthritis and related diseases. The project will be a collection of stories and photographs of people of all ages and cultures who have had experiences with Arthritis. If you are willing to help us with this project in any way, PLEASE email us at afncintern@gmail.com. Thank you and have a great day!
