Feeling "nutty!"

Today was a great day... I stuck to my basics along with my addition of chocolate rice milk (this did make my choc. rice protein powder taste great!) and I added avocado.  I really wanted to add eggs and especially NUTS but I chose to try avocado because it's a healthy fat and I can add it to salads, spread it on chicken and make guac to dip my carrots in!!

I miss my roasted almonds and my Larabars.  I really want nuts!  They say that you crave things that you're sensitive to or allergic to.. so I'm wondering if that may have been where I went wrong last time.

I have also realized that if I'm ok with rice protein and rice milk technically I'm ok with rice!!  I just don't really like it.  But, if I need a change I may try making some brown rice.

So, here's my current safe list:  carrots, celery, sweet potato, parsnips, peaches, pears, blueberries, mango, chicken, beef, rice protein powder, rice milk.  It's getting there!!!

  1. Glad you're doing well. That list of food might seem short but it's coming along!

I think it's best to stay away from nuts and eggs since those are the most allergenic foods (along with dairy and wheat). For rice, you might want to try wild rice, it's quite nice and has a bit more flavor and nutrients than regular rice.

Have you tried fish yet? I'm going to keep asking that one until I hear you tried it!

  2. You should try a brown rice protein. That's what I use. It's called sun warrior protein. I get mine from RawNatureBoy.com.

  3. @ Kat: You're probably right!! I am going to hold off on the eggs and nuts. You're funny to keep asking and I'm silly because I haven't tried the fish yet!

@ Shannon: That's the stuff I bought!! It is so healthy but I don't love the taste of it with water. I bought the chocolate- which one do you use and what do you mix with it? Thanks for the post!!

  4. I just want to share that I learned yesterday that xanthan gum is derived from corn...yet another thing/additive that is corn. As is most likely anything glucose. So beware those things when reading labels later if/when you add anything packaged (Larabars)
